Level 1 Student Workbook
This bound workbook gives the student the opportunity to do the work and to "own" it as a complete endeavor for the school year. It introduces Closed, Open, and Vowel-Consonant-e (VCe) syllable words.
Emphasis is on consonant sounds, short vowel sounds, long vowel sounds, consonant digraphs, initial and ending blends, glued chunks (am, an, all, -ng, -nk), and suffixes (s, es, ed). Compound words, puzzle words, and multi-syllable words are also introduced.
It includes two "Lessons to Get Ready" and 29 skills lessons that are divided into five days of consistent, but varied activities — enough for the span of a school year.
The first day of a new lesson is done with the teacher; Days 2-5 can be done independently with teacher support as needed.
Word Lists (to be cut up into word cards) coordinate with the lessons and are an essential kinesthetic material.
